Leviticus 16:29

29“And it shall be a statute to you forever that ain the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall bafflict yourselves
Or  shall fast; also verse 31
and shall do no work, either dthe native or the stranger who sojourns among you.

Leviticus 16:31

31 eIt is a Sabbath of solemn rest to you, and you shall fafflict yourselves; it is a statute forever.

Leviticus 23:29

29For whoever is not afflicted on that very day gshall be cut off from his people.

Isaiah 58:3

3 hWhy have we fasted, and you see it not?
Why have we humbled ourselves, and you take no knowledge of it?’
Behold, in the day of your fast you seek your own pleasure,
Or pursue your own business

jand oppress all your workers.

Isaiah 58:5

5 kIs such the fast that I choose,
la day for a person to humble himself?
Is it to bow down his head like a reed,
and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him?
Will you call this a fast,
and a day acceptable to the Lord?

Jeremiah 31:8-9

8Behold, I will bring them mfrom the north country
and ngather them from othe farthest parts of the earth,
among them pthe blind and the lame,
the pregnant woman and she who is in labor, together;
a great company, they shall return here.
9 qWith weeping they shall come,
rand with pleas for mercy I will lead them back,
I will make them swalk by brooks of water,
tin a straight path in which they shall not stumble,
for uI am a father to Israel,
and Ephraim is vmy firstborn.

Jeremiah 50:4-5

4 w“In those days and in that time, declares the Lord, xthe people of Israel and the people of Judah shall come together, yweeping as they come, and they zshall seek the Lord their God. 5 aaThey shall ask the way to Zion, with faces turned toward it, absaying, ‘Come, let us join ourselves to the Lord in an aceverlasting covenant that will never be forgotten.’
